Discover the Three Most Common Vanity Styles

With the help of a good cabinet maker, you can create a vanity to suit your needs. However, if you're looking for a simple and time-saving option, here are three of the most commonly used basin vanities.

Kick-Board Vanity

The kick-board vanity is the most commonly used basin vanity. It's ideal for hiding unsightly plumbing pipes and can be installed easily, making it popular with renovators. With a kick-board at 150mm height, the plumbing waste pipe can be moved above the floor yet stays hidden under the vanity kicker.

Wall Hung Vanity

A wall hung vanity is suspended above the floor, giving a cleaner look and making it easy to clean under. However, planning ahead of installation is required, and wall supports and bracing might have to be put in place to carry the weight of the vanity. The plumber will need to measure the height and position of the hot and cold pipes. Since the vanity is above the floor, the drain pipe will most likely have to be altered into the wall and protrude out at a certain height, depending on the position of drawers and doors. Having the vanity's specifications handy on the day the plumber is booked for lock up stage prior to plaster is recommended.

Semi Recessed Vanity

Semi-recessed vanities are perfect for tight rooms, offering the luxury of a full basin bowl with only half the vanity width. They are available with kick-board or suspended options, making them ideal for powder rooms or smaller bathrooms where space is precious. The idea behind it is much the same as explained above.
